Eddie's castrate

Eddie (who is our receptionist Karen's cat) visited Larkmead Vets in Didcot last week to be castrated. It is important to have your male cat castrated as this prevents unwanted litters, reduces roaming, and means he will be less likely to fight. This, in turn, makes him less likely to catch feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and feline leukaemia virus (FeLV).

Here is a description of his day at the vets.

He came into the practice bright and early having had no breakfast.  We gave him a sedative and an pain killing injection to make him feel more relaxed and prepare him for his general anaesthetic.  As you can see - after these injections he became a little sleepy!

We then gave him his general anaesthetic and castrated him.  This is Eddie immediately after the operation, cuddled in a blanket to keep him warm.

After his operation he came to the Sutton Courtenay cat clinic before he went home.  He kept the vet company and helped write up his notes.

He then waited very patiently for his Mum to finish work so he could go home.

A few days later - recovering with his best friend Reggie.
