Beau and his bad month

Beau had a very bad month in March.  We have been following Beau for a few months now.  He was diagnosed with kidney disease last year and had been doing well (albeit with a small appetite) for several months.  In March however, his owner noticed that he wasn't himself and he really wasn't eating much.  We admitted him for fluids and took a blood sample.  The blood sample showed his kidneys were stable, but Beau had now developed diabetes.
He needed to stay with us whilst he started his insulin and because he wasn't eating we had to place a feeding tube so he could still get the right nutrition in order to help him to get better.

This is Beau recovering in his incubator after his anaesthetic to place the feeding tube.  Beau stayed in the hospital for over a week.  Each day he started to feel a little better, and soon he was well enough to go home (his owner took him home still feeding him via the feeding tube).

Beau came in for a check up last week to see how he was doing (his feeding tube was removed 3 weeks ago).  Beau is a lot better, his diabetes has resolved (this can happen in cats) and he feels a bit more like his old self.

This is Beau playing at home with his new toy!
